Hi all!
I haven't been writing much lately. I've been really busy with a number of projects including launching new sites (like Matt's X-Rated)! Here's the latest:
The Matt's Models DVD Series released through Vivid was #6 on the AVN Pro Am charts for the month of October. The charts are compiled from a cross-section of U.S. video stores, adult stores and online retailers. It means my DVDs are really popular, so thats pretty cool!
I recently did an interview for a publication that's gonna be released in the next month. I thought I'd share a couple of my answers with you:
1) What's the secret of getting great photos?
I don't know. You should ask one of the million "photographers" on the world wide web. Now everyone owns a digital camera, video, web cam or cell phone camera. Everybody is a photographer or content provider. User generated content is dominating the Internet. Everybody is filming porn. Photographers are a funny bunch of people. It seems they all believe they are the best and everybody else sucks. I've been watching that banter now for years.
Photography (or video production) is no different than art or music. The reality is that there is no "greatest photographer". There is no test that proves YOU are the best photographer or even a half ass photographer. The fact is that the TASTE of the Internet porn consumer has become so specific and niched it's very difficult to keep everybody happy (unless you cover every niche lol).
Matt's Models has always been about capturing the model in as natural a state as possible. We use little makup, hair or sets and try to get as much of the model's REAL PERSONA -- whether it's through photos or our videos.
Of course you should always be shooting with good lighting and equipment and provide content that meets (or exceeds) the quality demands of the surfers. Generally speaking, I think photographers should shoot their own vision and find a niche they personally enjoy. Luckily I found a niche which matches my own personal taste way back in 1999.
2 ) What is life like, shooting models and running your own web site?
It seems to be getting more and more surreal for me. I can't believe I'm still doing it after 10 years! It's definitely more difficult because of the competition but also more interesting. One of my projects right now is a semi-mainstream production being produced by a mainstream TV producer. I have to balance shooting with managing the business. I spend more time finding the right help or researching something on the Internet.
As far as the "glamorous" or "dream job" perception of running a site like this, its only paradise when you look in from the outside. I live in a house with some of the models and we have different models coming in and out of town every month. There is always drama and rarely a day goes by that something traumatic doesn't happen (like hair extensions falling out, wrecked cars, DUIs, death threats, or just broken windows).
I just had a Birthday/Halloween party where Ron Jeremy arrived with gifts bearing his name and face (CDs, rolling papers, hot sauce and an RJ wind up doll that sucks its own dick). Later, the guys from CosPlay Divas showed up and installed a stripper poll in my house and we watched some of the girls dance (some of the pics are on the right).
Finally as I was coming off my buzz, I noticed a crowd gathering outside my bathroom. I walked over and saw two girls I've never met having the weirdest sex I've ever seen. So SOMETIMES it's fun and life does imitate art

My drumming career is back in motion. I've been practicing and my playing is better than ever. I'm networking with other musicians and music industry people. I'm looking for fun music projects next year - so if you are a writer, musician, producer or whatever - hit me up!
I'm also looking for new, good people interested in working for Matt's Models. If you are a motivated webmaster, graphic designer, photographer, videographer, PA or just someone interested in getting into the online adult industry - feel free to contact me at matt@mattsmodels.com .
It was Faye's birthday recently also - here's a couple shots of her.
I'll be taking my first real vacation in a long time at the beginning of December - whoo hooo!! We'll also be posting several new models over the next few weeks, so stay tuned for that!!
